We are convinced that a vine intimately connected to the life of its soil will produce grapes rich in flavor and vitality. The complex organization of soil life forms a dynamic whole that we strive to enhance each season through our farming practices.<\/p>\n

Soil life and structure are improved through the establishment of diverse cover crops between vine rows and between cultivated plots. To nourish the soil, we apply animal and\/or plant-based fertilizers and composts each winter.<\/p>\n

We also spread biodynamic preparation 500 on our soils. Recent research has shown a strong similarity between the ferments of this preparation in the soil and known hormones involved in root and plant cell growth. When properly prepared, this application is intended to stimulate root system development, soil exploration, microbial activity, and humus formation\u2014essential elements for healthy soil structure.<\/p>\n

The quality of the root network, mycorrhizae, and the diversity of microorganisms all contribute to the nutrition and vitality of our vines. By ensuring the good health of our soils and their inhabitants, our vines enhance their natural capacity for regeneration.<\/p>\n

The aerial vine<\/h2>\n

We pay close attention to our vines and their precious fruit. During the growing season, we support vine growth through bud thinning, shoot thinning, shoot positioning, and trellising. When pressure from fungal diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew increases, we apply sulfur- and copper-based preparations, as well as plant-based herbal teas. Nettle, horsetail, valerian, and yarrow are support plants used to strengthen protection and help mitigate stress caused by climatic challenges.<\/p>\n

Biodynamic preparation 501, made from quartz fermented in a cow horn for six months, is used in the vineyard to connect the plant to its aerial environment. This preparation is the counterpart to preparation 500, which acts in the soil.<\/p>\n

Vineyards in a diverse agricultural landscape<\/h2>\n

The Entras estate is located in the T\u00e9nar\u00e8ze region, sometimes referred to as the \u201clittle French Tuscany\u201d. Here, vineyard plots are modest in size, and groves and isolated trees dot the ridgelines of the valleys shaped by the Ba\u00efse and Auloue rivers.<\/p>\n

The estate is an integral part of this diverse landscape, with its kilometers of hedgerows and groves, its pond, and its scattered trees. In 2021, 2023, and 2025 respectively, 800, 850, and 400 linear meters of native hedgerows were planted, extending the existing natural corridors. Planting projects continue with the establishment of green corridors near crops and vineyards to provide habitats for beneficial species\u2014such as bats, natural predators of grape moth larvae\u2014and to bring cooling shade during the summer months.<\/p>\n

These wooded areas are precious habitats for wildlife. The estate is proud to host a rich natural biodiversity: green woodpeckers, kingfishers, barn owls, pipistrelle bats, harriers, black-winged kites, voles, roe deer, not to mention all the organisms that contribute to the life of the soil beneath our feet.<\/p>\n
